The days of Tashreeq.

The days of Tashreeq have a great virtue for Muslims, as on these days there is a doubling of the rewards for every worship the Muslim performs. Let’s talk about these days, and know
more about them.

What are the days of Tashreeq?

The days of Tashreeq are the 11th, 12th, and the 13th days of Dhul-Hijjah month. And Allah Almighty talked about them in Surat Al-Paqara when He said: {And mention Allah during the appointed days}.

Why they are called the days of Tashreeq?

There are many opinions about the reason of the name of Tshreeq, but the strongest opinion on why they are called days of Tashreeq, is because prior to the invention of the refrigeration systems, the pilgrims used to slice the meat they acquired from the Udhiyyah, spice it with salt, and then they let the meat to dry in the sun in an early and traditional style of food preservation.
This method cause dehydration to the meat, which helps the pilgrims to preserve it and carry it with them on their long journey back from wherever they came after finishing the rituals of
Hajj, and this process was called Tashreeq, and it was derived from the Arabic word which means sunrise or sunshine as this process needs the exposure of the meat to the sun for a long time.

The Days of Tashreeq for the pilgrims:

Muslim pilgrims spend the first day of the three days of Tashreeq which is the second day of Eid Al-Udhaa, in Mina, near the holy city of Mecca, where they perform the throwing of stones which is a -symbolic stoning of the devil- ritual  at the jamarat site, and they do the same on the second and the third day of Tashreeq. It is forbidden for the pilgrims to fast on the days of Tashreeq but

it is permissible only for the pilgrim who does not have a Hadi (sacrificial animal) to fast on the days of Tashreeq, as It was narrated by Al-Bukhary that Aisha and Ibn Umar -may God be pleased with them- said:( No one was allowed to fast on the Days of Tashreeq except one who could not find a Hadi).

The days of Tashreeq for the non-pilgrims:

The Prophet -peace and blessings be upon him- said about the Days of Tashreeq(They are days of eating, drinking, and remembering Allah), so it is forbidden for Muslims to fast on the day of Tashreeq.

But They should increase remembrance of Allah especially immediately after the prayers by reciting the Takbeer

( magnifying of Allah) that is recited before the Eid Prayer (God is the Greatest, God is the Greatest ,God is the Greatest, no god but God, God is The Greatest, God is the Greatest, and praise to God, God is the most Greatest, and many praise to God, and Glory for God at night and day ).
This is prescribed until the end of the Days of Tashreeq, according to the majority of scholars.
