The day of Ashura.

Its definition:

it is the tenth day of the month of Muharram of every year.

The reason of fasting on the day of Ashura:

Fasting on the day of Ashura is in order to thank God for saving Mousa –peace be upon him- and his people from Pharaon and his people, on the tenth day of Muharram.

Its virtue:

On the authority of Abi Qatada –may God be pleased with him- he said: ( The Prophet –peace and blessings be upon him- was asked about fasting on the day of Ashura, and he said: I hope, it will expiate for the sins of the previous year), Narrated by Muslim.

Degrees of fasting on the day of Ashura:

Perfect fasting: it means to fast the day before and the day after Ashura.

And then, to fast only the ninth and the tenth day of Muharram.

And then, to fast only the tenth day of Muharram.

And this is from the bounty of Allah, as He rewards us for fasting only one day, with expiation for our sins of a whole year, and Allah is the owner of great bounty.

So brother! initiate taking advantages of this great virtue, and start your new year with obedience to God and hastening to good deeds, as Allah Almighty said: { Indeed good deeds efface misdeeds}.
