Here comes the holy days, and the month of Dhul-Hijjah came out, the month in which Muslims perform the greatest pillar of the Islam pillars which is Al-Hajj, and within the days of Al-Hajj, there is a great and blessed day, and is distinguished from any other day, it is the day of Arafat.
Lets talk about it and know more about its virtue and how can we get its rewards?
What is the day of Arafat?
It is the ninth day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, on which the pilgrims stand on the mount of Arafat which is covered on the day of Arafat with a white mantle made up of the pilgrims standing reverently on it.
Some Evidences of the holiness of the day of Arafat:
*The day of Arafat is the day which God honored it in his Holy Quran,
as Allah Almighty said:
(Today, I have completed your religion for you, and I have fulfilled my grace on you, and I am pleased with Islam for you as a religion), Surat Al-Ma'eda, verse 3. This verse was revealed on the Messenger of Allah –peace and blessings be upon him- on the day of Arafat while he (p.b.u.h) was standing on the mount of Arafat.
*Allah Almighty swore by the day of Arafat in the Holy Quran, as He said:
(By a witness and attested) Surat Al-Burooj, verse 3, where the witness is the day of Friday, and the attested is the day of Arafat, as it is attended by people and angles.
The virtues of the day of Arafat:
The day of Arafat is a great day and every hour on this day is worthy, so we, as Muslims, should work so hard on the day of Arafat to get its great and worthy rewards, so what can we do on this day? and what would be our rewards??
If Allah Almighty bless you with Hajj, so you are called by God Almighty to visit His forbidden house to forgive your sins , and on the day of Arafat , you will be one of those whom Allah Almighty brags about them, the people of heaven, and you will return from Hajj as pure from sins as you were a newborn.
But if you are not a pilgrim, you have a great reward on this day also, as you have a lot to do, since fasting on the day of Arafat expiates the sins of two years! as Prophet Muhammad –peace and blessings be upon him- said: (Fasting on the day of Arafat, I anticipate that Allah will forgive the year after it and the year before it) Sahih Muslim, and it is desirable for all Muslims other than pilgrims to fast on the day of Arafat, but the pilgrims may be weaken from standing and praying if they fast on this day.
Furthermore, you should increase supplications, praying, and remembrance of God Almighty and asking Him forgiveness.
The supplication on the day of Arafat:
It was narrated about the Prophet Muhammad –peace and blessings be upon him- that he said: ( The best supplication, is the supplication of the day of Arafat, and the best that I said and the messengers before me is "No god but God, the one and the only, He has no partner for Him, He has the majesty, and He has the praise, and He is capable of everything") Narrated by Al-Termedhi.
Virtue of the day of Arafat as the pause of Eid:
"pause of Eid" means the day before the first day of Al-Udha feast, when all Muslims; adults and kids be prepared to celebrate by following Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad -peace and blessings be upon him- of wearing new clothes, fasting, and praying the Eid prayer, so the day of Arafat is a day of celebrating for Muslims, and a day of happiness in the life and in the hereafter.
